Slovakia born, New Jersey based, singer-songwriter Mir Stavola performs in South Jersey and Philadelphia area at singer-songwriters showcases, coffee shops, summer concerts and benefit events solo or as a member of the Genies and Gypsonica.
Mir is a former member of the folk band Timid in her home town, Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia, where she recorded her first album No Destination in 2003 with guitarist Richard Guzak, who also produced this CD at his recording studio. While No Destination is mostly country rock and folk, currently she is recording and performing world music - traditional Eastern European Gypsy songs, Slovak mountain music and her own original songs in her new style. A sample of her work, a traditional Russian gypsy tune with Mir's original lyrics in English, Gypsy Heaven, was published on a compilation CD Brothers released for the benefit of the HorsePath.
She admires and supports natural lifestyle and enjoys learning about the native cultures through their music. Her last projects include participation at the benefit concerts for the HorsePath and New Jersey Animal Alliance in September 2008.
